Best Free Things to Do in Atlantic City

One of the main things that attract people to the Atlantic City is that the beaches here are free as opposed to others where you need a seasonal tag. This makes it extremely easy for you to have some free fun at the beach with your family.

When visiting the beach, you must make it a point to stroll on the boardwalk, which is four miles long. This length makes it the first and the longest boardwalk in the entire world. The first part of this boardwalk began its operations in 1870, while the final completion happened in 1896. There are a few signs of the boardwalk that stand tall even today, like the Mr. Peanut Statue, which can be found at Garden Pier. The Historic Museum as well as the Art Center at Garden Pier should not be missed.

At the Historic Museum, one can find interesting photographs, artifacts and also vintage prints of people, places and things that have contributed to the popularity of the Atlantic City. The Art Center exhibits the original creations of national as well as local artists and has an interesting gift shop in its premises. There is also free parking available for visitors at Garden Pier.

The sites and sounds of the steel pier also form an important part of the tour to the AC boardwalk. While walking on the boardwalk, you will be able to recognize the various landmarks, which find a place in the popular game of Monopoly. The inspiration behind the formation of the game was the Atlantic City.

Another great free activity in the Atlantic City is the airshow that is organized every summer. Visitors traveling to this city in the summer can have the pleasure of enjoying the Atlantic City Airshow.

Yet another way to enjoy AC is by waking up early and riding your bicycle between 6:00 AM and 10:00AM. This ride is free for people who can get their own bike.

The AC boardwalk boasts of casinos, which come up with free concerts from time to time, so checking their calendars can be quite beneficial. The free concerts at the Kennedy Plaza on the boardwalk, which are sponsored by the AC Free Public Library, are quite a hit with the visitors.

The Water show that is held at the completion of Pier Shops every one hour is another activity that can be conducted in the Atlantic City free of cost. It is enchanting to see the colorful effects that the show is made up of.

Making a trip to the Historic Absecon Lighthouse is also a free activity that can give you a lot of pleasure. Though there is a nominal free that visitors are expected to pay when they go to the 228 steps of the lighthouse, parking and access to the museum is absolutely free of cost. This 150 year old lighthouse is the tallest in New Jersey and the third tallest in the country.
