Desinations near Atlantic City – Independence Hall

Independence HallThe Independence Hall in Philadelphia is the place where the seeds of liberty were first sown. In the year 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed here and the Articles of Confederation, which united all the 13 colonies, was also ratified here. This hall was also a witness to the adoption of the constitution of the United States of America.

All the children have a brief idea of the history of the Assembly Hall, which was the venue for the meeting of the Second Continental Congress for the purpose of debating if they should continue existing as a colony or fight against the British rule in order to get their independence. The Continental Army decided to appoint George Washington as their Commander in Chief at this very place. Children must take a look at the table on which the signing of the Declaration of Independence took place and also the chair where George Washington sat. The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence took place a few days after this signing ceremony at the Independence Square.

The Bell tower, which is at the top of the Independence Hall, was earlier used to be the home of the famous Liberty Bell. This bell has now been displayed across the hall in a glass pavilion. The public reading of the Declaration was announced with the clang of the Liberty Bell. A few other buildings along with the main one collectively make for the Independence National Historic Park. The National Constitution Center is an important part of this park, which is known for the entertainment of children. The hands-on, high-tech exhibits that can be seen here are one of a kind and should not be missed.
